The program begins September 2025 and runs through May 2026, spanning 9 months (approximately 110 hours total).

  • Monthly in-person field days (one Saturday each month, 10am–2pm)
  • Monthly online sessions (one Thursday evening each month)
  • Monthly online Q&A (one hour, last Wednesday evening of each month)

Do you offer scholarships or financial assistance?

Yes! We offer a BIPOC Scholarship, covering 50% of tuition, intended for BIPOC participants navigating financial hardship. You'll have the option to apply during the application process.

Where will classes take place?

Our monthly field days will be held in outdoor natural spaces around Los Angeles County (parks, gardens, and local trails). Specific meeting locations will be shared upon enrollment.

How much outside-of-class work is there?

Expect approximately 6–10 hours per month for herbal study, monograph writing, research, personal plant observation, and occasional home medicine-making assignments.

Can I attend fully online if I’m not based in LA?

This specific offering is intentionally designed as a hybrid experience. While attendance in-person is strongly encouraged to fully benefit from the hands-on nature of the program, if you’re interested in an online-only option, let us know and we can keep you in mind for future offerings!

What are the main assignments or projects?

You’ll complete monthly plant monographs (in-depth profiles of each core plant we study), and a final project showcasing your herbal journey and knowledge, supported by mentorship. Final project could be hosting an event, creating a Field Guide, a Zine, or any kind of project that reflects care, attention and effort throughout our time together.

What if I miss a class?

No worries! Recordings of online sessions will be made available. If you miss an in-person day, you'll receive class notes and resources to stay connected. You're also welcome to bring questions to our monthly Q&As.

Tell me more about the camping trip?

At the end of our apprenticeship, you'll have the option to join a weekend camping retreat to celebrate, share final projects, and deepen community bonds. Will share more details mid-program.

How do I apply?

Who is this apprenticeship for?

This program is for anyone feeling the pull to deepen their relationship with plants, and land. Whether you’re just starting out or have already been dabbling in herbalism. If you're looking for a steady, bioregional learning container with community, structure, and hands-on practices.

When does the apprenticeship begin and how long does it run?

We begin in September 2025 and journey together for 10 months, wrapping up in June 2026 with an optional camping trip to celebrate and present final projects.

What’s the difference between the In-Person, Hybrid, and Online tracks?

All three tracks cover the same plants, core curriculum, and include access to monthly Q&As, a Telegram support group, and resource materials.

In-Person Track: Meets 1st & 3rd Saturdays, 10am–2pm + online Q&A (4th Wednesday).
Hybrid Track: Meets 1st Thursday evenings (Zoom, 6–9pm) + 3rd Saturday in person + Q&A.
Online Track: Meets 1st & 3rd Thursday evenings (Zoom, 6–9pm) + Q&A.

Do I need any herbal experience to join?

Not at all. This is a foundational program, which means we’ll start with the basics and grow together. That said, if you’ve taken classes or studied plants before, this will still deepen and organize your knowledge in meaningful ways.

Classes are held throughout Los Angeles County, mostly in the East side in local parks, gardens, and wild spaces. You’ll receive exact locations after enrollment but think oak woodlands, native plant gardens, canyons, and other green places around the city.

What will we actually do in class?
  • Field observations
  • Plant identification
  • Seasonal and energetic teachings
  • Medicine making (hands-on!) & math for herbalists
  • Group meals and storytelling
  • Guided monograph writing
  • and yes, tea!
What’s expected of me as a student?
  • Attend your track’s meetings
  • Write one monograph per month (you’ll receive structure and support for this)
  • Engage in community Q&As
  • Bring curiosity, commitment, and a respectful relationship to the land and its original inhabitants
What’s the final project?

You’ll craft a final project that integrates your learning. You can choose to:

  • Host a mini workshop or event with support from me
  • Create a zine, photo series, art project, or field guide
  • Offer a medicine bundle to a community in need
  • …or something else that reflects your path. The project is required—but its format is yours to shape.
What’s this about a camping trip?

In June 2026, we’ll gather for a low-cost camping trip to mark the end of our time together. This includes:

  • Closing ceremony
  • Project presentations
  • Shared meals
  • Plant walks & outdoor skills
  • Optional sunrise hikes, fire circles, and group reflection

You’ll cover your own transportation, meals (we'll potluck!), and basic supplies. Camping sites will be discussed in January. We will poll, find a compromise & book accordingly.

How much outside-of-class work is there?

Expect around 6–8 hours per month aside from class meeting of study, monograph writing, and maintaining your final project. The goal is to help you build a steady rhythm without overwhelming your life.

What does it cost, and are there payment plans?

$2,500 early bird
$2,800 + 5% with payment plan
$300 deposit (non-refundable, credited toward tuition)

Will you be offering a lower-cost option?

Yes! We’re also offering The Companion Circle, a sliding-scale monthly membership that includes online plant study and access to seasonal Q&As. Details will be announced in late August.

Will I get a certificate?

You’ll receive a certificate of completion if you attend all lessons, complete your 10 monographs, and present your final project. More importantly, you’ll leave with real-world skills and relationships that last longer than paper.
